The short version

Lovely stores your account, the worlds you make and the conversations you have in them. Your messages are sent to Anthropic's Claude models to write the replies, and world portraits are drawn by Google's Gemini image models. Nothing is sold, nothing is used for advertising, and you can have all of it deleted by asking.

What is stored

  • Your account. Email address, the name you signed up with, and — if you used Google — the account identifier Google returns and your profile picture URL. A password, if you set one, is stored only as a bcrypt hash.
  • What you make. The worlds and characters you create: their description, first message, example dialogue, the people and places on their map, and any prompt instructions you write.
  • Your conversations. Every message in a chat, with its timestamp, and a running prose summary of older messages so a long conversation keeps its shape. A short record of story sessions a character has played with you.
  • A session cookie named pp_session: a signed token that says which account you are. It is HTTP-only, lasts 30 days, and is the only cookie the site sets. There is no tracking pixel and no advertising cookie.
  • Page views. This site counts visits itself, in its own database: which page was opened, the country the request came from, whether it was a phone or a computer, which browser, and the site you followed a link from — the host, such as reddit.com, never the page. Nothing is sent to an analytics company. No cookie or identifier is stored on your device for this. Your IP address is not kept: it goes into a one-way hash along with a secret, your browser's user-agent and today's date, and only that hash is saved, so two page views can be recognised as one visit today and the same browser is unrecognisable tomorrow.
  • A phone number, only if you give one. Nothing on Lovely asks for your number. If you fill in the form at lovelyworlds.com/sms, text our number, or reply YES to an invitation, we store the number, the messages you exchange by text, and a record of what you agreed to. Replying STOP to any message — or emailing the address below — ends it.
  • A friend's number, if you invite them. We use it to send that one invitation. If they reply STOP, we keep the number only so we never text it again.
  • Text messaging consent. Mobile numbers and text messaging opt-in data and consent are never sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing purposes.

There is no logging of your IP address or device by this application beyond what the hosting provider does automatically to serve and protect the site.

Who it is sent to

  • Anthropic — the text of a conversation, the world it happens in, and what you type, so Claude can write the reply. Anthropic does not train its models on data sent through the API.
  • Google — two separate things. If you sign in with Google, Google tells us your email, name and profile picture. Separately, Google's Gemini image models draw world and character portraits from the descriptions you write; your conversations are never sent for this.
  • Vercel — hosts the site and stores generated images.
  • Neon — hosts the database everything above is stored in.
  • Twilio — delivers text messages, if you play by text. It receives your phone number and the texts sent to and from it.

That is the complete list. Nothing is sold, rented, or shared with anybody else, and there are no advertisers.

Who can see your worlds

A world you make is public unless you set it to private: public means anybody else signed in can open it and start their own conversation in it. Your conversations are never public — a chat belongs to the account that had it, and nobody else can read it. Worlds marked private are visible only to you.

Deleting it

Email lovelyworlds2416@gmail.com and ask, and your account, your worlds and every message in them are deleted. There is no waiting period and no copy kept, other than ordinary database backups that age out on their own.

Children

Lovely is for adults. Do not use it if you are under 18. Worlds are written by their authors and continued by a language model, and the result is fiction that can go anywhere a story goes.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected or who it is sent to, the date at the top changes and anyone with an account is told by email before it takes effect.
